Criminal charges may lead to the loss of you license

As if life was not bad enough, the police arrested you.  The last thing you are likely to think about is that the charges might cause your licensing body to attempt to discipline you, especially if the offense had nothing to do with your profession.  For example, the Real Estate Division of the Washington Department of Licensing (DOL) will attempt to discipline agents and brokers for unrelated charges such as shoplifting.  The DOL will argue that it falls under the parameters of unprofessional conduct.  However, in that specific case that is not so.  There must have been a nexus between the profession and the offense.  DOL just doesn’t care what the law is.  It relies on individuals and attorneys not knowing.  Don’t be fooled. Hire an attorney experienced in administrative law.
