Washington State Department of Early Learning (DEL)

The Department of Early Learning requires providers and child care workers to complete training and continuing education each year. Any caregiver left unsupervised with children must have a cleared background check from the national fingerprint check database. DEL investigators sometimes provide outdated informatuion, forget to return the required background clearance for child care workers, or fail to inform providers when state laws change. Don’t lose your child care program or pay an expensive fine because you misread a regulation or assumed that your licensor would tell you what to do to remain current with state laws governing child care providers. Contact an attorney right away if you are given a statement of charges, the Department issues a notice of “Stop Placement,” or your license is suspended or revoked.
