The craziest thing happened at the Department of Licensing

The Department of Licensing (DOL) oversees bail bond agents.  Recently, DOL received a complaint that a bail bond agent took money from a client.  He then did not give her a receipt or put the money in a trust account.  He appeared to have pocketed it.  When the client complained to the owner, she refunded the money and fired the bail bond agent.  The owner did not stop there. She filed a police report and complained to DOL.  She ran an honest business and did not want the bail bond agent to ever work in the industry again. Here is where the story takes an interesting turn.  DOL did not charge the bail bond agent who committed the wrongdoing. They filed charges against the owner for all the things the employee did.  What is the message here?  Perhaps that the DOL doesn’t want people to do the right thing; in fact, they will punish you if you do.
